Ulla Ströhmann combines the ancient wax painting technique of encaustic with the geometric formal language of modernity. The Cologne artist complements the tradition of pigments in beeswax with silver and aluminium leaves. While the linear compositions convey clarity, the coloured surfaces and the sensuality of the wax are characterised by a warm liveliness. She has been active with exhibitions in Germany and Europe since 2000 and is represented in numerous collections.
