“The work on the stone is often a balancing act. Hard rock is like glas, it simply splinters, if you tackle it wrongly. I love these surfaces, which tell stories, and the cold core, which you can peel out.”
Christoph Jakob works with a special procedure: with the splitter he breaks on exact defined breakages, the glashard material. He provides the fragments with incisions, threw chipping pieces off he creates serial arranged bridges, round boreholes, rectangular or square areas and composes the single elements again.
Like an architect the sculptor creates towers from stone elements and provides every “building” an individual aura: he emphasizes threw polished edges and threw open spaces he grants insight and perspective, provides the “facade” with structures or plays threw relocating of the tower elements and boreholes on the cutting edge with the statics.
So there are formed stone sculptures, which emit silence and power, because the artis who comes from the Frankfurt area, always creates, a balance between his creative intervention and the momentum of the stone, its texture and his structurally entity. .
